Hey guys, 75tennis here with more information on our contest. Our contest starts March 18th and ends on April 1st, and the theme is Greek Mythology. I Can't Say No.        As I am about to go into dreamland, my mind takes off to a place that has no rest. The past, the present, it haunts me. My future, I hope, is divine. My thoughts now overcome my dreams and makes them something I simply don't understand. My mind tells me understanding is overrated, pointless, not worth my time. But do I listen to that voice inside my head?
       So many things that I wish I could do over. Years go by and now I'm not a child anymore. I have responsibilites, aspirations, hopes for the future. Each person I know puts a little bit of weight on my shoulder, thinking I could handle it, that I'm old enough, strong enough to hold this burden. But they don't know that many other people did the same thing, said to me the exact same words as the person before.

Where Did It Go?       It was there a moment ago, I swear it.

Fluctuations of sound waves vibrate the floor,
While the lights of my room glow brilliantly,
But as time winds down and my energy starts its decline,
My vision gets blurry and listening becomes hearing,
And hearing becomes simple background noise,

Yet, still creating a motion picture full of abstract images,
In my mind full of words and phrases that do nothing but stay stagnant,
And Slumber begins to wrap her warm hands around my head,
As she sweetly begins to pull me into black depths of rest,
A state of unconsciousness that will take me on a journey,
Through the grey abyss we call the center of our nervous system,
And once I fall into the pit of nothingness, the pit of onyx, for those few hours,
I will transform into an atramentous being with aphotic wings,

DiveOutward they go
forward they lunge
downward they fall
as they take the plunge

Out the aft door
out of a perfectly good plane
letting gravity pull them downward
and adrenaline run through their veins

To the ground they fall
chancing their fate
speeding towards terra firma

But just a few minutes
more than they can afford
out comes the parachute
with the pull of a chord

Back on the ground
they brace for landing

Yellow-haired lady crowned with flowers,
Kissed by the sun.
I am in your shadow.

Was it narcissus your daughter picked
when she was dragged from the light?
Irony.

I walk downstairs feeling apathetic,
Neutral and plainly indifferent,
My features void of any kind of emotion,
But my mother asks, “What’s wrong?”
My sister quizzes, “Why ya’ looking so long?”

I shrug and say, “Nothin’ wrong, just feelin’…..

The Wreckage of TonightThe wreckage of my regrets, washed to the shore of tonight.
Whispering it's secrets to the cochlea of my ear, as white figures appear in the form of haunting freeze-frames of my life, all around me.
The rusty keys, that hold in all my gust, to eternity.
The cobwebs, that decorate my experiences into something rustic and historic.
The sounds of the waves, waltzing in the inner keeping of my integrity.
The shallows of the frozen-over icy, rough ocean; anchor back my mind.

I know myself, tonight.I sit, while I smoke on my balcony, wondering how long this feeling will last.
The burn in my throat reminding me of all the times I've been here, in the recent, yet deceptively long-ago-story it births in me.

I write, misspelling. I see the world through a particular viewfinder, I connect with the music in a way i have missed. Let me close my eyes for a moment, and contemplate darkness in it's most colourful state.

I know you, I say to myself smiling.. where have you been hiding?
Right here, I respond while taking a long drag, holding it, until I exhale clear-smoke-free-air. Now I feel you.

Rusty CageDon't perch me upon a cotton cloud
Or quarter me by the country lake;
No fields of grain inspire me now,
Nor misty hues above the creek.

I have seen too many daffodils
And belle bluebells too pall my soul,
These mockingjays do not arouse
A drop of woe, a drip of joy.

Instead set me off upon a barge
Where the shadows meet, by day or night;
Off to a shade where silence unites
With her soundless charms of quietude.

And leave my haunt with little tint
A monochrome wind, a fickle farewell,

The prerequisite of popularity, to be appreciated.
The inevitability that talent is cast aside, to make way for the rich and famous.

Fuck giving a damn about the deaths in one country, while millions die daily in silence, without a whimper of acknowledgement.
The obsessed- over, ideal person, that doesn't even appear like what they permeate.

Fuck the biased media, fogging reality, fading away truth, annihilating real freedom of choice, speech and action.
The overly important necessity to feed ourselves with guilt for feeling good, feeling pleasure, comfort or happiness.

To a SidewalkSidewalks could never make it there;
not with Grecian urns and The Graces,
skylarks, nightingales and poison trees;
What glory possessed the land of grime,
the kingdom of crud, the state of smut?
What amaranths could footprints flower?
What odes could lesser roads bring forth?
A poor one perhaps, trodden on and on,
by poets too poor to take a room,
And I, from that crass, slightest ground
too can grasp the grandeur of the galaxy,
Yet, can one search in tarmac holes
For a codex to decrypt their souls?

to place his joys above his eyes,

How is this ungodly predator somehow able to evade all configurations of authority?

No one is capable of figuring out why this predator has these vile and vindictive thoughts.

Dead Happy MemoriesThe cold breeze is in the air today
Here in the tropical paradise of Florida
The leaves are slowly dying
The grass is dying too

I feel so happy and so alive
But then my world starts shattering again
Being replaced and forgotten by Color Guard
Hurting me with their trust for only their friends

A blond named Chesterton looks at me with disgust
They all look at me with disgust
I saw who they are finally
Why didn't I see that sooner?

As I stroll through the cold breeze
I see a couple kissing underneath a dying tree
The memories came back from the dead
Came back from cremation once more

If I might make a suggestion--Perhaps it would be helpful to some deviants if you included an "other" or "Wild card" type of folder. I find that it's difficult for me to decide which category to put my work in when it doesn't quite match the rest of what is probably in that folder. Just a thought, maybe other deviants aren't having this issue.
